The Best Banana Bread!

Who doesn’t love a slice of good old banana bread? The mashed bananas and chocolate chips keep it gooey, and the walnuts add a welcome crunch. The cinnamon and nutmeg scent your kitchen beautifully as they remind you to make a cup of coffee so you can enjoy that banana bread you just baked.

You will need:

1 1/2 cups mashed bananas

2 eggs

3/4 cup butter, softened

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup soft brown sugar

2 1/2 cups plain flour

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

small pinch of nutmeg

3/4 cup chopped walnuts

3/4 cup chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 325 F or 180 C.
Grease 2 loaf pans (9 by 5), or two 8 in rounds. I always add some parchment paper just to make sure nothing sticks.

In a large bowl, add the mashed bananas, eggs, butter, brown sugar, vanilla and mix until smooth.

Then add the flour, baking soda, sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and fold into the wet ingredients.

Add in the chocolate chips and walnuts. You can obviously bake this without the walnut san chocolate chips, but you’re gonna miss them.

Split the batter into both pans and bake in the center rack for about 35-45 minutes. The baking time decreases if you’re using round cake pans. They’ll be done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The top of the cake will be dark brown, but that doesn’t mean it’s burned. Let it cool completely before cutting into slices.
